League of Legends PrizePicks Prop For January 17th, 2023

We held a poll on our Twitter earlier today about what you all would like to see for our free pick of the day, and a PrizePick prop was the winner. We managed to find one we like, so we’re giving it out to our readers.

The Pick

Scout Over 6.5 Kills Combined In Maps 1+2

We’ll get right to the point. We think this line is too low. We expect a scrappy series between LNG and TT with lots of opportunities for kills. The LPL teams have been playing surprisingly slow in a lot of the games so far, but we don’t think this series will go that way. Action early and often will greatly increase our chances that this hits, so hopefully our read is correct in that regard.

Even if it isn’t, though, seven kills is pretty low for an upper tier midlaner, which we believe Scout to be. After all, this man is a World Champion and was the Finals MVP when they won that championship, so we know he can play. For reference, RNG’s rookie midlaner Tangyuan’s line is 7.5 and he’s only seeing his second LPL series ever.

There are only a couple of things that worry us about this pick. The first is that it’s always possible that Scout takes a less aggressive approach and grabs a utility champion that doesn’t focus so much on dealing damage, but rather map impact. If he goes that route, then obviously things could get dicey. But if Scout gets to grab say, Akali, or one of the many mages with nice firepower this patch, we could practically get this in one game.

The other is that we think TT has a real chance in this series. And generally, if a team is losing, they’ll have fewer kills as a whole, which means less for Scout. Hopefully LNG comes out strong with their new roster to give us the best chance.

As we’ve mentioned, this pick isn’t without its trepidations, but we’re more than willing to take a chance on a World Champion with a line this low. We expect Scout to want to have a great start on his first new team in nearly seven years, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he goes off.
